Three Things You Have to Bring With You on a Fishing Trip

Fishing trips to alaska

It’s said that if you ask three fishermen what you should bring to an Alaskan fishing lodge, you’ll get three different answers.

While packing for Alaskan fishing trips might seem like a simple task, it’s actually a bit more complicated. Yes, you do need hooks, lines, and bait to fish, but that’s not all. Here are a few things you can’t forget when taking fishing trips in Alaska.

Licensing.

Before you even think about bunking down for the night in your Alaskan fishing lodge, you need to have all the proper paperwork filled out. Each state in the U.S. has its own requirements and regulations, and Alaska is no different. If you plan on taking an excursion to the Last Frontier to catch some fish, check with the state and local governments to find out what licenses you’ll need.

Provisions.

Your Alaskan fishing lodge is probably not going to come stocked with food, and while you may want to catch your dinner, you’re still going to need something to eat for breakfast and lunch. Be sure to bring along some food and bottled to your Alaskan fishing lodge when you go, and make sure that some of it can be taken out on the boat with you.

Safety Gear.

You’re not going to spending all of your time at your Alaskan fishing lodge, and if you were to, then maybe you should consider taking another trip. The whole point of going on a fishing trip is to venture out onto the water and catch some fish, which is always a bit risky. Be sure to bring a hat, sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, a good knife, a first-aid kit, toilet paper, a cell phone, bug repellent, nylon rope, and whatever other safety provisions you think you may need.

These are just a few of the things you should bring with you to your Alaskan fishing lodge rental. If you think of other things that might need to be brought, feel free to share them in the comments.
